“Applied Behavior Analysis is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree, and to demonstrate that the interventions employed are responsible for the improvement in behavior“
Baer, D.M., Wolf, M.M., & Risley, T.R. (1968). Some current dimensions of applied behavior analysis. Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. 1, 91-97.
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is an effective method of therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. The U.S. Surgeon General and the American Psychological Association have endorsed ABA for the treatment of children on the Autism spectrum, and ABA therapy is now covered by most insurance companies – including MassHealth.
When a child begins treatment with us, one of our board certified behavior analysts (BCBA’s) starts by doing a detailed assessment of his or hers skills and behaviors – as a means to help define specific treatment goals, and develop an individualized program of therapy. We strive to have our therapists establish warm and trusting relationships with “our” kids. That’s key to making the therapy successful – and fun!
